Introduction:
I've been in the treatment room for years, and I have heard it all! "My skin feels so dry after that flight", "I broke out while on vacation." I know what it's like. The stress of travel and a change in climate can wreak havoc on your skin. But it doesn't have to. I'm here to share my personal secrets and professional tips to ensure your skin stays healthy, happy, and glowing no matter where you are in the world.
The Pre-Flight Prep
Your glow journey starts before you even leave home. This section will focus on preparing the skin for the stress of the flight.
TIP 1: Hydrate from the inside out: The single most important thing you can do is drink a lot of water. Start hydrating a day or two before you fly. This helps your skin's natural barrier stay strong.
TIP 2: The Travel Glow Smoothie: Drinking smoothies packed with citrus fruits, ginger, and coconut is a perfect pre-trip habit. I say, start drinking them 4 or 5 days before leaving for your trip. Immune-boosting defense, plus rich antioxidants, helps your skin look radiant while away from home.
Tip 3: About a week before you leave for your trip, start using a heavier nightly moisturizer and facial oil. This will boost the hydration of your skin. The best way to care for your skin is with preventative care.
The In-Flight Guide
The flight is where your skin needs the most help. Here are some simple, effective ways to keeping that glow all the way to your destination.
Tip 1: The Dewy Glow: Every 2 hours spritz your skin with Dew Drop. This keeps your skin hydrated in that dry cabin air. Pro-tip, purchase a travel size toner bottle and keep your favorite facial mist in your carry-on. You will thank me later!!
Tip 2: Bring a sheet mask and apply it to your skin mid-flight or an hour before you land. My favorite sheet mask is ESW. Clean ingredients, and you can purchase based on your current skin's needs. Grab a sample size of your favorite moisturizer and apply after removing the sheet mask. Pro-tip, take the time to massage the serum from the sheet mask into your skin, this is the best part!!
Tip 3: Apply a soothing balm to your hands and lips randomly during your flight. This protection will prevent dehydration.
Post Flight Recovery
You've landed, and now your skin has to adapt to a new climate.
Tip 1: Before you step off that plane, spritz your skin again with Dew Drop or your favorite hydrating mist. This is so important to keeping a strong skin barrier while traveling.
Tip 2: Once you make it to your Hotel for the night, cleanse the skin well (2 cleanses) to wash away any impurities from traveling. Apply a hydrating toner, serum (I recommend a vitamin C), moisturizer, and a facial oil or balm. Your job is to keep the skin hydrated and protected while you're away from home.
So go on, book that trip, buy that ticket, and pack your bags. Your skin is ready for that adventure. Stay hydrated, stay dewy, and most importantly, stay you.
Happy travels,
Lorrie/The Skin CEO
